Founded in November of 2020 – yes, during a global pandemic – StayAbove Nutrition’s core mission is to formulate safe and effective supplements that improve your quality of life as you age. Who are we at StayAbove Nutrition?

We’re a nutritional supplement company based in Hamilton, Ontario.

StayAbove is based on twenty-five years of scientific research led by our Founder & CEO, Dr. Mark Tarnopolsky, M.D, PhD. Our team is a unique blend of scientists, nutrition experts, and athletes. So, you can rest easy knowing each premium Health Canada approved supplement is formulated with your wellbeing in mind.

What Does Science-Backed Mean?

The core of our mission is to formulate science-backed supplements that meet safety and regulatory standards, feature the highest quality ingredients, and are proven to be effective.

To achieve these goals, our supplements are scientifically researched and designed by the internal StayAbove Nutrition team. This means that instead of relying on research conducted by outside sources, which isn’t always reliable, our team rigorously tests every supplement ourselves.

This unique development process enables our team to formulate high-quality, multi-ingredient supplements that will enhance your quality of life as you age.

Why Did We Get Started?

Through his work as an award-winning neuromuscular and neurometabolic specialist, Dr. Tarnopolsky realized the nutrition market is incredibly over-saturated with poor performing supplements that lacked scientific evidence. Additionally, as an active medical doctor he was seeing first-hand major health concerns that could be mitigated through proper nutrition and exercise, specifically in aging adults.

This inspired Dr. Tarnopolsky to recruit a team to design the next standard of nutritional supplements.

Each product stems from our core mission of easing one of the modern world’s greatest health threats: aging. Through nutritional supplements and exercise, our goal is to help you ‘Stay Above’ the disability threshold.

At StayAbove Nutrition, we consider the disability threshold to be a point at which it becomes harder to do common daily activities, such as climbing stairs or carrying grocery bags. As these activities become more difficult, you are more likely to experience falls and require the use of a cane, walker, or wheelchair. Exercise and nutrition can help you stay above this threshold, so you have the strength and mobility to move independently.

Why is Aging a Health Threat?

The United Nations predicts that the aging explosion is likely to be the next major health crisis. It’s estimated that the world’s senior population will more than double by 2050, leading to an increase in aging-specific health concerns.

As the world’s population ages, we’ll see an increase in musculoskeletal disorders, such as sarcopenia, in addition to obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and cognitive dysfunction. These types of health concerns can result in:

• The loss of muscle mass starting at 35 years old
• Gradually, muscle loss moves one towards the ‘disability threshold’.
• Increased risk of developing other health issues, such as obesity, diabetes, heart disease, furthering the move toward the ‘disability threshold’.
• Result = quality of life is significantly reduced when one drops below the ‘disability threshold’
